Với thành tích SAT* trên 1510, 42.9% học sinh Dewey tham gia bài thi chuẩn hóa quốc tế này đã nằm trong Top 2% thí sinh có kết quả cao nhất thế giới. Nhiều bạn ghi nhận điểm tuyệt đối ở kỹ năng Toán hay trên 750 điểm kỹ năng Reading & Writing. Cô Vũ Phương Nhi - Giám đốc Điều hành Chương trình Tiếng Anh, Hội đồng Khoa học và Sư phạm Dewey cho biết, lộ trình ôn luyện SAT tại Dewey chia thành hai nội dung trọng tâm, tương ứng với hai cấu phần của bài thi SAT. Trong đó, năng lực, kỹ năng và tư duy Toán học được phát triển xuyên suốt thông qua môn Toán tiếng Anh. Chương trình Toán SAT tại Dewey tập trung vào bốn mảng nội dung cốt lõi của kỳ thi SAT dạng số: Đại số; Giải quyết vấn đề & Phân tích dữ liệu; Toán nâng cao; Hình học & Lượng giác. Mỗi mảng nội dung được hệ thống hóa một cách khoa học, làm rõ các thuật ngữ và kỹ năng quan trọng thông qua chuỗi bài học đa dạng cùng hệ thống đề luyện được thiết kế sát với đề thi thật, giúp học sinh làm quen với các dạng bài, cấu trúc đề, xây dựng chiến lược làm bài hiệu quả.
Song song với Toán, kỹ năng Reading & Writing được tích hợp trong môn Nhân văn học (Humanities) - một lợi thế nổi bật của Dewey. Đây là một trong 7 môn học chuyển giao từ trường đối tác Mount Vernon School (Top 10 trường đổi mới sáng tạo tại Mỹ) và được xây dựng theo chuẩn Common Core, phù hợp với lộ trình luyện thi SAT. Nhân văn học mang đến sự kết nối liên môn giữa Lịch sử, Địa lý, Khoa học và các vấn đề xã hội, giúp học sinh xây dựng nền tảng kiến thức vững chắc, mở rộng vốn hiểu biết, từ đó chinh phục các bài đọc học thuật và phát triển kỹ năng viết chuyên sâu.
Bên cạnh chương trình học, sự đồng hành của đội ngũ giáo viên cũng đóng vai trò then chốt. Theo cô Mỹ Linh – Giáo viên SAT Toán tại The Dewey Schools Ocean Park, lộ trình SAT tại Dewey được thiết kế linh hoạt theo năng lực và mục tiêu cá nhân của từng học sinh: từ các khóa Bridging dành cho học sinh mới làm quen, đến các khóa chuyên sâu và luyện đề. Trong quá trình giảng dạy, giáo viên Dewey chú trọng giáo dục trải nghiệm, học sinh được thử nghiệm, phản tư và vận dụng để tìm những cách tiếp cận khác nhau. Chẳng hạn, với các chuyên đề như Probability (Xác suất – Thống kê), thay vì chỉ làm bài theo khuôn mẫu, học sinh được khuyến khích thuyết trình nhóm và ứng dụng Toán học vào bối cảnh thực tế, từ đó hiểu bản chất vấn đề.
Đặc biệt, học sinh Dewey có cơ hội tham gia các bài thi thử PSAT do College Board biên soạn. Dựa trên thang điểm và hệ thống đánh giá chi tiết, học sinh xác định rõ điểm mạnh, điểm cần cải thiện, từ đó từng bước củng cố kỹ năng học thuật một cách có hệ thống và hiệu quả trong quá trình ôn luyện SAT.

DECODING THE 1510+ SAT ACHIEVEMENTS OF DEWEY STUDENTS
With SAT* scores exceeding 1510, 42.9% of Dewey students who took this international standardized test ranked among the top 2% of test-takers worldwide. Many achieved perfect scores in Math or surpassed 750 in Reading & Writing. These outstanding results are a clear testament to students’ sustained effort as well as the quality of The Dewey Schools’ academic programs and long-term strategic orientation.
Ms. Vũ Phương Nhi, Executive Director of the English Program and a member of the Dewey Scientific and Pedagogical Council, shared that Dewey’s SAT preparation pathway is structured around two core components aligned with the two sections of the SAT. Mathematical competence, skills, and thinking are developed continuously through the English-taught Math curriculum. Dewey’s SAT Math program focuses on the four key content areas of the digital SAT: Algebra; Problem Solving & Data Analysis; Advanced Math; and Geometry & Trigonometry. Each area is systematically organized, with key terminology and essential skills clarified through a diverse sequence of lessons and a bank of practice tests closely aligned with the actual exam. This approach enables students to become familiar with question types and test structure while developing effective test-taking strategies.
Alongside Math, Reading & Writing skills are integrated into the Humanities course—one of Dewey’s distinctive strengths. This is one of seven subjects transferred from partner school Mount Vernon School (ranked among the Top 10 most innovative schools in the U.S.) and is designed in accordance with Common Core standards, making it highly compatible with SAT preparation. Humanities offers interdisciplinary connections across History, Geography, Science, and social issues, helping students build a strong knowledge foundation, broaden their perspectives, master academic reading passages, and develop advanced writing skills.
Beyond the curriculum, the close guidance of Dewey’s teaching staff plays a pivotal role. According to Ms. Mỹ Linh, SAT Math Teacher at The Dewey Schools Ocean Park, Dewey’s SAT pathways are flexibly designed to match each student’s individual ability and goals—from Bridging courses for beginners to advanced and intensive practice programs. In the classroom, Dewey teachers emphasize experiential learning, encouraging students to experiment, reflect, and apply concepts through multiple approaches. For example, in topics such as Probability and Statistics, instead of following rigid problem-solving templates, students are encouraged to present in groups and apply mathematical concepts to real-world contexts, deepening their conceptual understanding.
Notably, Dewey students also have opportunities to take official PSAT practice tests developed by the College Board. Based on detailed scoring and evaluation reports, students can clearly identify their strengths and areas for improvement, enabling them to systematically and effectively strengthen their academic skills throughout the SAT preparation process.
